Updated: September 21, 2015

Bluto is doing wonderful. He is fully healed from both of his surgeries. He is a very sweet playful boy. He loves to cuddle and be right next to his human at night.  He absolutely loves stuffies and will toss them up in the air and catch them. He does great with his foster brother and sister greyhound and his kitty brothers. He has matured with his house manners and does not need crated or muzzled when left. Bluto is the best boy and can bring out a smile on a sad day!

Bluto has recovered from his eye surgery and foot injury and is doing very well.  He has kept his "greyt" personality through his long recovery.  Bulto will require eye drops every day for the rest of his life.  The eye drops cost about $125 every six weeks or so.  Anyone considering adopting this sweet boy will have to be able to purchase these drops every month for Bluto.

February 2015
Bluto is a very happy hound. He has a condition called KCS or dry eyes. Bluto is not able to produce any tears on his own. He is currently on medical hold while we try and establish a treatment that will work best for his needs.

Joey Tschykovsky, "Joey"
Arrived in February 14, 2015

Updated March 18th

Joey is doing really well and has come a long way. He is coming to Lori and I more and more and asking for pets. He has started becoming more playful especially in the mornings. He is a GRINNER, and greets me when I come home from work with a few quick grins and kisses. He of course loves eating and lets out little playful barks when I bring his food to him. He still crates really well and will easily go into his crate. We have been patient with him and he is becoming more people oriented. Those first weeks we had to shut him out of his crate so he wouldn't stay in there all the time. He still preferred to stay by himself in the guest bedroom, but now spends more time with us in the living room. We watched Dottie this weekend and he had a lot of fun chasing her and Minnie around in the backyard. He is a really playful dog. He also enjoys squeezing in between Minnie and Arlo when they are trying to soak up some rays in the sun room. Overall, he is doing really well.  Usually when I look for him, I can see him in a door frame peaking his head through, head tilted, ears forward cautiously checking it out.

CTW Eddie Bauer, "Eddie"

Gender: Male
D.O.B: November 18, 2011
Weight: 75 pounds
Small Pet Safe: TBD
Color: Black & White

Eddie came to All About Hounds from the Greyhound race track in Mobile, Alabama. He is a large dark brindle boy who is confident and loving. His foster mother has this to say about Eddie:

"He does sleep really well throughout the night in his crate. He is getting along fine with Arlo and Minnie (foster brother and sister) He is eating well and seems to do okay in his crate. We took him for a walk yesterday and he did very well, not pulling. He has got quite a swing in his hips too. He's very stunning and very sweet. He will just come up and stand there for you to pet him and will take as much as you will give him."
This boy's photos do not do him justice. He is stunning. He is looking for his forever home. Is it YOU?

Eddie Update 2-12-15

Eddie is discovering toys and loves to play. He acts like a puppy and is full of himself.
He is very curious and has his nose in everything, but overall a good boy. He follows EVERY step you make. You open the closet to hang up clothes, he’s going in too. Getting stuff out of the dryer, he’s with you…even crawled in the dryer to check it out. Bathroom? He’s on it! What’s that poking you in the behind? IT’S EDDIE’S NOSE!!!! You never ever have to be alone when you have Eddie.

He’s a gorgeous boy, absolutely striking. He's a loving hound and likes nothing better than to be near you and get pets. He can't wait to find a family to love and call his own.

Meet House

Racing Name:  Ahouseisnotahome

Welcome to My Blog

February 19, 2015

Ahouseisnotahome, "House"

Arrived in January 2015

Gender: Male
D.O.B: June 17, 2011
Weight: 75 pounds
Small Pet Safe: TBD
Color: Black & White

House has been with us for almost a month now. He’s just a big, beautiful teddy bear who wants to be loved on all day long. Everyone gives him compliments during our walks, probably because of his irresistible charm and plush and shiny tuxedo coat (not a single hint of kennel-butt to be seen!). House is completely housebroken, has great leash manners and is fine in his crate while his humans are at work or school during the day. There have been no displays of aggression towards people or other dogs big or small, but we haven’t seen him interact with a cat before. He’s very quiet, but you’ll occasionally hear snuffling sounds from him when he’s happy or excited. He sometimes forgets how big he is, so when he sees you after a long day, he may bump into furniture or slip and slide on the tile/hardwood floor in his excitement to welcome you home (he likes to lean but he would never be impolite enough to jump on someone). House is very gentle with people, and he is very polite when meeting strangers or accepting treats.

House is also fantastic when it comes to maintaining his hygiene. He loves having his coat brushed and tries to return the favor with lots of kisses. He is fine with getting nails trimmed and ears cleaned, and will even deal with his daily dental brushings with no complaints. He’s adapted wonderfully to apartment living and the life of a beloved pet, and he calmly looks to his owners for guidance in new situations. In just a few days, he was able to climb six flights of stairs by himself and he’s a pro in the elevator.  He stays off of the furniture and has not tried to counter-surf once (though he’s so tall he can easily stick his nose into things if you aren’t watching). A simple no is more than enough to deter any unwanted behavior. House is just a beautiful and loving boy who dreams of sharing all of his love with some lucky family, big or small. He is great as a silent study buddy or an active jogging partner or even an expert squirrel catcher; he really is an outgoing and confident dog who just wants to be happy with his family.

Jolene is such a sweetie. She likes her quiet time in her crate when Dottie is running around playing, which is a lot. She loves to see people and gets very excited. She used to jump but I've got her out of that mostly.
