Update: April 19, 2015

Dolly has really settled in nicely to our home and her routine.  It is easy to imagine her adapting well to a forever home.  She LOVES attention, pets, hugs and snuggles.  She also really likes to go on walks.  She gets excited when other people stop and “make” over her.  I would not say she has a shy or “spooky” bone in her body.  Although we have a huge fenced back yard, she prefers to spend her time indoors with her people.  She goes out, does her business and then prefers to come straight in (unless of course, her human is outside with her).  She is a really good eater, so no coaxing or prompting needed in that department.  Although she is 8, she has the spirit of an adolescent.  She is ready to go to a loving forever home and be part of a family that is longing for a hound with lots of personality!
Oh and one more thing . . . in our first post, I said she did not get on furniture.  That has changed.  We felt so bad for her when we allowed our other hound on the sofa with us that we started letting her get in the chair.  See how cute she is:

We have been fostering Dolly for two weeks now.  She came to us fearful of walking on hardwood floors and chose to isolate herself in the living room because  she could stay on a rug. It was a mini ordeal to get her out to potty bc she was so freaked out by the floors.  She was reluctant to eat even though she was overweight from her previous diet. She didn’t really know good leash walking manners.
We have seem major progress in all of that, though she still needs some work with leash walking.  She wants to walk us vs. being walked.  We are working on this and have faith that she will get better and better.  She has come so far in such a short period of time.  I even think she has lost a pound or two while eating her meals like a champ now.

She is a sweet, sweet girl and would love to be an only dog so she would not have to share our attention.  We were hopeful that she would play with our other hound (who wants nothing more than a dog to chase her), but Dolly really does not seem to have any interest in playing with our Rosie.  They get along fine, but mostly just ignore each other.  All she really wants to do is be with us, get lots of pets, go for walks and rides in the car, get some treats and sleep on the floor by our bed.  Her personality is endearing.  We love it when she “talks” to us, which she does when we get the leash out or it is time to eat.  She definitely roo’s.

Oh yes . . . she is fully house trained, too.  No accidents at all in the house.  She hasn’t been left alone for more than 6 hours, so we have no idea how long she can “hold it”.  We don’t crate her, so can’t really speak to how she does in a crate.  At first she wanted to get on the furniture, but was easily re-directed and has not tried to sneak up on the sofa or bed at all since the second or third day she was here.  She is ready to find her forever home and will make a great pet for some lucky person(s).  If you are looking for a female who will steal your heart, she fits the bill.
